Hi my name is Tricia Wong and I am the co-creator of Trixi’s
Treasures. Forming this company, literally saved my life! Here’s my
story…
I have had really bad asthma, since I was 13 years old. I
have been in and out of Emergency rooms and hospitals for many years.
Living in Hawaii with the high humidity and VOG (volcanic fog), I really
struggled to breathe. As the years passed, my asthma progressively
worsened. I was either living in a hospital or an isolated room with an
air conditioner, dehumidifier, and air purifier, all running 24/7.
After struggling to stay well for so many years, my doctors
suggested that I relocate to San Diego. So, I moved in March of 2006.
And, even after moving, I continued to end up in and out of the
hospital. Finally, in August of 2008, everything came to a head, when I
ended up being a Code Blue and found myself intubated in ICU.
Since then, life has been a constant struggle for me. I was
extremely depressed and really wanted to die. It was so much easier to
give up, then to continue to fight to live. I basically cried all day
and all night for a very long time.
Then, while I was pretty much bedridden and recovering from
my Code Blue, I discovered valuable speeches, presentations, and
interviews given by people, who I look up to, respect, and really
admire. Role models, such as Jason Nazar, Seth Godin, Guy Kawasaki,
Anthony Robbins, Warren Buffet, Gary Vaynerchuk, Maria Forleo, Michael
Gerber, Zig Ziglar, Napoleon Hill, and countless others, who have all
inspired me to want to help others and perhaps even change the world!
After spending hours and hours of listening to my role
models, I began to change my mindset to, if I could just muster up the
strength to do what it takes to fuel my passion, which happens to be
Trixi’s Treasures, then everyday I can do something to get me one step
closer to living my dream.
But, in order to get there I needed help. So, my Aunty Carol,
my mother’s sister, who is like my second mom, relocated to San Diego
to help me turn my dream into a reality. Without her and the amazing
support of my family, I would not be where I am today…which is happy and
recovering!
Entrepeneurship is very new to me because I have been a
Registered Nurse since 1995, and because I kept getting sick from
working in the hospital setting, I decided to return to school in 2000.
Two years later, I graduated with my Masters degree in Information
Systems. Since then, I have helped to build EMR (electronic medical
records) systems for various hospitals, including Kaiser Permanente.
After my Code Blue incident, I knew my chances of returning
to work were slim to none. But, it allowed me an opportunity to do
something far greater. My goal now with Trixi’s Treasures is to help
empower people to make wiser food choices, live healthier lives, and to
make even the healthiest of foods taste better! And always remember, YOU
CAN MAKE A “HOMEMADE” TREASURE FROM WHATEVER!!!
Trixi's sent over couple of their snack mixes they have. In the picture I'm only showing a few that they sent me. They were very generous when they sent over the samples. There was a wide of variety of the kind snacks they put in the mix. They included different cereals, chips, and t different seasonings. My family enjoyed all of the flavors but me on the other hand I only liked the original flavor and the jalapeno one. Everyone has different tastes buds so you might like them all like my family did.
